Translator and Professional Writer: The Perfect Combo.
There are many reasons to write: different exigencies, different audiences, and different purposes. Hire a translator who’s also a professional writer! M.J. Fievre holds an MFA from the Creative Writing program at Florida International University. She is the author of A Sky the Color of Chaos (Beating Windward, 2015), a memoir set in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 2011, M.J. translated several book-length projects in English, including The Power of a Dream by Haitian entrepreneur Mathias Pierre. In 2014, she wrote a trilingual children’s book, I am Riding, published by One Moore Book in English, French, and Haitian Creole.
Need a very technical translation? Trust the Smarties! Patricia Fievre holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. As a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida International University, her main tasks included design and testing of a new optical component to be used in hardware security. During an internship at Ball Aerospace and GE Global Research, she had the opportunity to develop experience in low-light imaging and modeling of camera performance, and to work on chemical and wireless sensors. She was also exposed, through her graduate coursework, to subjects such as VLSI design and digital system engineering. In other words: She’s super smart. After completing her primary and secondary education at a French-speaking school, she studied in both Haitian Creole (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and English (Miami, FL) and she’s been published in Proceedings of SPIE, the Journal of the Optical Society of America A., and the Journal of the Institute of Smart Structures and Systems.
